Development of an online condition monitoring based system for the partial demagnetization fault diagnosis of SPM‐type BLDC motor

This study investigates partial demagnetization faults arising from stator interturn in a surface-mounted permanent-magnet-type brushless direct current motor. Because of rotor demagnetization, the fault severity increases significantly owing to an increase phase and temperature. The effect such is reflected machine parameters as motor back-EMF radial magnetic flux, which are used analyse characteristics faults. A mathematical model under possible conditions developed using finite element method advanced hybrid approaches. Experimental investigations conducted validate proposed methodology. Subsequently, for diagnosis employed develop online expert-based system that can detect, classify estimate percent values determine conditions. It discovered approach suitable industrial commercial applications electric vehicles, where machine's state-of-health estimation crucial avoiding major may result its failure.
